Louet Octagonal
From Louet, this is made from unfinished wood with an interesting octagonal-shaped whorl. Easily stained, painted or varnished if desired. Shaft length including hook, 25cm (9.8 inches). Whorl diameter is 6.5cm (2.6 inches). Weighs approximately 41 - 46g (1.4 - 1.6 oz). Another beginner spindle of excellent value, with a midrange weight that makes it great for spinning medium to thin yarns. Some people describe this as being "purse sized". No notch on the whorl but the interesting shape helps to keep your yarn from slipping.

Louet's entry-level wheel, a good choice as a first wheel for the aspiring new spinner on a limited budget. The achieve cost savings, the main construction material is laminated birch. Smooth ball bearing operation like all Louet wheels, easy treadling and a well balanced spin that won't disappoint. Irish Tension.
Effective Fall of 2010 the S17 is in a new version. It is no longer a kit, but partially assembled. Like with other Louet wheels, the final assembling is quick and easy. The unfinished wood is sanded and the edges are rounded. It only needs a finishing with lacquer, stain or wax.

The Aura offers a new way of looking at double drives and a new way of looking at spinning. This wheel is a collaboration between Majacraft and the very accomplished spinner Pluckyfluff.
Designed from the ground up, the Aura has new style and presence while still retaining the classic Majacraft look. It has two independent drive bands, one for the flyer and a second for the bobbin. The flyer drive has three different ratios and the bobbin drive has two ratios plus infinite adjustment. Being so unique, the Aura requires new thinking about spinning and expressing your creativity. The potential is huge and when you are ready to explore everything that can be achieved in spinning then come and spend time with an Aura.
The flyer is all new and builds on the advances Majacraft has made in the past. It shares the aerodynamic shape of our other flyers for efficient and easy spinning. Most importantly it has a new dual function orifice. Fine yarns can be held still in the delta part of the orifice. This also has the function of holding coil yarns very still so you can observe your work. You can bypass the delta and use the large halo ring for spinning huge. With the new double drive, the Aura can spin anything that can be pulled through this orifice!
The new folding handle design has the grip in a new location and special bumpers on the handle to keep the spinning head away from the pedals when you fold it down.
As with all other Majacraft wheels, they have worked to make it as compatible as possible with all accessories. The Aura will fit all existing Majacraft flyers. It takes the NEW Jumbo bobbins with two special holes on one end, now standard starting spring 2011 for all Jumbos.

Canadian shipping only. Majacraft's new plastic Jumbo Bobbin is made from molded plastic, specially chosen to minimize the sound made by the tension string in the bobbin groove as well as to decrease the weight. Also available in a wood version.. Launched in late 2020.
The Jumbo or Plying bobbin has a large capacity and can be used in conjunction with a Plying Flyer, Wild Flyer or Aura Flyer -- they don't fit on the regular standard flyer. They will contain up to two standard bobbins of yarn when plying or will allow you to spin longer yarns when using it to make art yarns. All the new Majacraft bobbins will now work on the Aura wheel.

Because ABS is a slightly softer plastic, we did not want them to wear out quicker so have managed to integrate some high quality and very durable polymer bearings inside the bobbin. This bobbin is designed for use on the Lace Flyer as a plying bobbin, and will hold two full bobbins of singles spun on the lace bobbins. Alternatively, it can be used as a high-volume high-speed bobbin.

The special thin wall fibreglass cores make for very light bobbins and will allow you to have extra sensitive brake adjustment. This is essential for lace spinning. These bobbins have a “fat” core to reduce the “yarn-to-bobbin angle” and hence the tension on the yarn as you spin (to prevent unnecessary breakage of fine yarns)."

The Stylus bobbins can be purchased individually to go with your Majacraft Stylus Kit. While smaller and shorter than any of their other bobbins, these will hold a huge amount of yarn compared to traditional quill type spinning.
