Merino – Superwash White 22mic (Top)
Merino – Superwash White 22mic (Top)
SUPERWASH Merino. Classification: FINE WOOL The most common fibre offered as Superwash, this is lovely combed Merino top in an ivory-white colour. Micron count is 22, which is plenty soft for against the skin wear and a multitude of other uses. Perfect for knitting items that require easy laundering. Wool is conditioned through an enzyme process that strips off the outer scales, which prevents felting. This also makes for a different effect during the dyeing process, because Superwash fibre sucks up the dye quickly. Merino rates high for softness. Staple length is generally 2.5 to 4 inches. The Superwash treatment makes for a slippery feel during spinning when compared to untreated Merino, so it's not necessarily a good choice for beginners. NOTE: Superwash fibre is NOT GOOD FOR FELTING. PRODUCT of NEW ZEALAND

Merino – White (Rustic Roving)
Classification: FINE WOOL Thick and chunky Rustic Roving with a moderate amount of vegetation debris. Staple length is about 2 to 2.5 inches, the colour is natural ivory-white. Merino is the most popular sheep wool breed by far. Suitable for projects worn against the skin, but also useful for outerwear and excellent for all types of felting. Our domestic Merino is not graded for micron count, so could range between 22 and 30 or so. If you want super-fine graded Merino, our imported combed top may be a better option. A good core wool for needle-felting. PRODUCT of CANADA

Merino 80/Silk 20 – Vanilla
Merino 80/Silk 20 – Vanilla
80% Merino wool (22-micron) / 20% Mulberry (Cultivated) Silk Combed top, very clean. Staple length is around 5 to 6 inches, the colour is creamy-white with lustrous streaks of silk. This is the same fibre blend that we also list as Ashford Merino/Silk Vanilla. It's soft and fluffy as a cloud and a true delight to spin. Whether you go for a thin lace spin or much thicker (even chunky novelty yarn) it won't fail to please. For years we thought the silk was Tussah silk, but indeed it turns out to be Mulberry. This dyes up beautifully with acid dyes. Be gentle if you dye it as top, since the Merino could easily felt. PRODUCT of NEW ZEALAND
