Romney – Light Grey (Roving)
Classification: LONGWOOL
Clean, carded and somewhat chunky roving with very little vegetation. Light grey in colour, marled with softer ash-grey and dark-grey throughout, and just a hint of brown. Romney is a longwool with a good crimp and relatively short staple and slight sheen. It spins well either woolen or semi-worsted styles. Suitable for midrange to outerwear. Being roving this has excellent loft which many needle felters love.
Micron count on this fibre is around 36 (but it feels softer) with a staple length of 4 to 5 inches. Felting properties are very good.

Romney – Medium Grey (Roving)
Classification: LONGWOOL
Clean, carded and somewhat chunky roving with very little vegetation. Medium grey-brown in tone, liberally sprinkled throughout with ash grey. Romney is a longwool with a good crimp and relatively short staple and slight sheen. It spins well either woolen or semi-worsted styles. Suitable for midrange to outerwear. Being roving this has excellent loft which many needle felters love.
Micron count on this fibre is around 36 (but it feels softer) with a staple length of 4 to 5 inches. Felting properties are very good.

Romney – White (Roving)
Classification: LONGWOOL
Thick and chunky carded roving, with very little vegetation. Creamy-white in colour. Romney is a longwool with a good crimp and relatively short staple and slight sheen. It spins well either woolen or worsted style. Suitable for midrange to outerwear, this particular roving being softer than average.
Micron count on Romney ranges from 32 to 39 with a staple length in the 5 to 8 inch range. Felting properties are very good.

Sari Silk Fibre – Cool Tones
Shredded sari silk fibre, in a myriad of cool colours colours that may include some or all of purple, blue, lime, emerald, other green shades, turquoise, grey, silver and possibly a few threads of red, yellow or other tones. This is shredded from leftover scraps and mill ends of fabric used to make saris. Our new supply is very clean and for the most part free of unshredded bits and debris. Fibres are in a tangle, essentially, but we try to get a good mix in each bag.
What to do with it? We've sometimes cut it into shorter lengths and carded it into spinning/felting batts; the key is to cut the silk to about the same length as the staple of the fibre it's being blended with. On the drum carder we find it behaves best when layed on the intake tray with the wool fibre on top, which helps to keep the silk off of the licker-in drum.
Felters love to use these fibres for embellishment in wet, Nuno and needle felting projects. Apparently it's a very cool add-in for paper makers, particularly those doing silk paper. Should also be grand for silk fusion and a myriad of other crafts, and even fly fishermen love this stuff!

Sari Silk Ribbon Yarn – Multicolour – 100g
Price is per 100g (3.53 oz) skein. Approximately 30 yards (27m).
Really cool stuff, this ribbon "yarn" is made from roughly 1-inch wide strips of Sari silk fabric that are sewn together end-to-end, in a myriad of colours. We've switched suppliers and are very happy with the quality of the new yarns.
A terrific and colourful weft for weavers, this could also integrate into thick hand-spun novelty yarns or be used as-is for knitting bags on huge honkin' needles or just adding a stripe here and there in fun scarves. The fabric edges will fray and add texture. Felters also seem to love these, because it's a great way to get a big stash of colours for embellishing.

Scottish Blackface (Rustic Roving)
Classification: DUAL-COATED
Thick and chunky Rustic Roving, usually with moderate vegetation.
The colour is creamy-white with a light sprinkling of dark hairs. This is an ancient breed, and a main player in the development of the wool industry in Scotland. The fleece is a combination of long, course outercoat hairs, with a much finer undercoat. This roving has the two carded together and would be best suited for rugged outerwear or non-garment uses.
Micron count on the fine hairs varies from 28 to 38 microns but is difficult to assign in a blend. Wet felting properties are good but the resulting felt will be textured and hairy and certainly best suited for sturdier creations. A good core wool for needle-felting.

Shetland – Black, Fine (Top)
Classification: DOWN-TYPE WOOL
Very clean combed top with next to no veg. The colour is a gorgeous and very dark brown-black with the odd grey hair sprinkled in, and it has a lovely and soft handle. This is a very old breed used in everything from traditional Shetland lace to rugged tweed fabrics and midrange to rugged outerwear knitted garments. It technically has a double coat but they are nearly always carded together.
Micron count on the fine hairs varies from 12 to 20 microns but is difficult to assign in a blend. Staple length is in the 2 to 4.5 inch range. Felting properties are moderate.

Classification: DOWN-TYPE WOOL

This is a very old breed used in everything from traditional Shetland lace to rugged tweed fabrics and midrange to rugged outerwear knitted garments. It technically has a double coat but they are nearly always carded together.
Micron count on the fine hairs varies from 12 to 20 microns but is difficult to assign in a blend. Staple length is in the 2 to 4.5 inch range. Felting properties are moderate.

Very clean combed top with next to no veg. Moorit is one of the official colour classes for Shetland sheep. The colour is a blend of medium-brown sprinkled with soft grey which sort of softens the overall effect. Micron count is 24 to 29 microns with a staple of around 3 inches and a medium-soft feel. This is a very old breed used in everything from traditional Shetland lace to rugged tweed fabrics and midrange to rugged outerwear knitted garments. Felting properties are moderate. Silk Hankies, Natural
100% cultivated (aka Bombyx or Mulberry) silk.
Much like silk caps, hankies contain many layers of tissue-thin silk that are stretched out and stacked together into square shapes, but flat rather than dome-shaped. This makes them easier to deal with than caps when hand-painting with dye. You can use either acid or fibre reactive dyes, or even natural dyes.
Spinners take the individual layers apart, poke a hole in the centre and then draft them out as thick or as thin as they need for their particular yarn. Felters find these interesting to use for embellishment on nuno-felted, wet-felted and needle-felted projects.
