This compact wheel is light-weight and portable with folding treadle, built-in Lazy Kate and carry handle. Fold and go - it can be carried easily in cars, as carry-on luggage in planes (check with your airline first as this varies from aircraft to aircraft) and takes up little space at home. Spin a variety of yarns using the four ratios. The stretchy drive cord does not require any adjustment as you change from one ratio to another and always maintains the correct tension. Treadling is easy with the weighted wheel and ball bearings. The wheel comes assembled and lacquered, ready for spinning. Made from lacquered plywood.

Ashford did a significant upgrade to the Kiwi wheel in late 2018. The main changes are folding treadles and a 3-speed whorl which provides more spinning ratios and greater flexibility. Although this is Ashford's entry-level wheel, it can do a great many things and is not a wheel spinners are likely to outgrow quickly.
For those wanting to spin art yarn or regularly do bulky spinning, the Kiwi Super Flyer is an add-on to consider. It's listed under our Ashford Accessories>Single Drive Flyers category.
The Kiwi 3 features include:

The Scotch tension allows easy control of the drafting process. The central flyer is convenient for right and left-handed spinners. The wheel is easy and quick to assemble with the Allen key supplied and the robust construction makes this an ideal wheel for individuals, schools and clubs.

This listing is for the lacquered finish version. We highly recommend the lacquered wheel, as many spinners are so excited to get going that they never get around to putting on a finish coat themselves. Unfinished wheels can get grubby looking fairly quickly, particularly the treadles.

If you're wanting to delve into the world of art yarn, but also want the flexibility to spin a range of more regular yarns, this setup is excellent value and very versatile. The new Kiwi Super Flyer will fit all Kiwi 2 and Kiwi spinning wheels.
Comes as a kit and is super-easy to install: you only need to undo one bolt when you want to swap.
The Super Flyer has a very generous-sized orifice, 27mm (1-1/8 inch) to allow for lots of add-ins or thick amounts of fibre. It comes with Ashford's new Free-flow Yarn Guides which let you spin with no hang ups or catches, even when spinning wild yarns!
The kit includes:
- Three super-size bobbins, with a capacity of around 500g (1.1 Lb)resulting in less time changing bobbins and more yarn on the bobbin.
