Fill your bobbins evenly with the squeeze-and-slide stainless steel hook. Fibreglass arms make these flyers light and strong. The yarn is controlled in the hook as you spin. The bobbins on this flyer are larger than the type on the standard hook-type flyer, and will hold more singles.

A lovely single-treadle wheel with a classic look. Ashford calls it a "Fairytale wheel".

This beautifully crafted wheel now has a large 61cm (24") wheel with 12 spokes mounted on ball bearings for smooth effortless spinning. Horizontal adjustment of the maiden bar allows perfect alignment with the 3 speed whorl. The maiden bar clamps to the base to eliminate vibration. This Double drive wheel produces a fine, firm-twist yarn particularly suited for fine wools and exotic fibres. One adjustment controls both drive band and bobbin take-up. Easily converted to single drive or bobbin lead. The treadle is pivoted for a comfortable heel-toe action. INCLUDED: horizontal Lazy Kate with 4 bobbins, threading hook, "Learn To Spin" booklet.

Ashford Flexible Conrod Joint
Replacement connecting joint between the conrod and treadle rail used on Ashford wheels made since the mid 1980s. Clear polycord. Over time these turn sort of yellow and get brittle. One of the most common replacement parts we sell.
This may or may not fit other brands of wheels, it might be the wrong diameter or be too long, which you can change by cutting some off with a very sharp knife. Approximately 7cm long.

Ashford did a significant upgrade to the Kiwi wheel in late 2018. The main changes are folding treadles and a 3-speed whorl which provides more spinning ratios and greater flexibility. Although this is Ashford's entry-level wheel, it can do a great many things and is not a wheel spinners are likely to outgrow quickly.
For those wanting to spin art yarn or regularly do bulky spinning, the Kiwi Super Flyer is an add-on to consider. It's listed under our Ashford Accessories>Single Drive Flyers category.

The double treadle and ball bearings allow for easy treadling and "hands-free" start. Treadles are hinged to allow a comfortable heel-toe action. The stretchy drive cord does not require any adjustment as you change from one ratio to another and always maintains the correct tension. The Scotch tension allows easy control of the drafting process. The central flyer is convenient for right and left-handed spinners. The wheel is easy and quick to assemble with the Allen key supplied and the robust construction makes this an ideal wheel for individuals, schools and clubs.

This listing is for the lacquered finish version. We highly recommend the lacquered wheel, as many spinners are so excited to get going that they never get around to putting on a finish coat themselves. Unfinished wheels can get grubby looking fairly quickly, particularly the treadles.
