Flaxen Silk Natural – 1-Lb Value Pack
Flaxen Silk Natural – 1-Lb Value Pack
65% Silk / 35% Linen. Lace weight, 2-ply. Approximately 115g (4.06 oz), 691m (756yd). Gauge: because of the open work in lace knitting, gauge is seldom given for lace weight yarns. Follow your pattern recommendations for best results. Laundering: Handwash cool, dry flat. John has only played around with this base a couple of times. It has a linen feel to the hand but with some lustre from the silk, in an ivory-beige shade. A good choice for summer shawls or other non-wool lace projects. The natural colour is a greyed ivory. Fibre reactive dyes might be the best choice for this yarn, but we've also tried acid dyes with good results. Just bear in mind that the linen component will not strike with the dye, so copious rinsing will have to be done. We found this needs a couple of days to hang and dry thoroughly before reskeining or winding, or it has a tendency to snag on the swift and break. PRODUCT of CANADA Price for 4 skeins, approximately 115g each. A 15% savings on our regular price.

Wool 60/Flax 40 (Top)
Wool 60/Flax 40 (Top)
60% Wool / 40% Flax Very clean combed top in an interesting heathered blend of ash-grey, soft tan and cream. Staple length is around 5 to 6 inches. This blend is softer than you might imagine, with what is obviously a Finewool of some type and a good grade of flax. It seems well-prepared and should be easy to spin. We wonder if it might just work for lace weight yarn. Feels plenty soft enough for midrange to outerwear garments. This could be dyed with acid dyes for a streaky effect. Might it work for felting??
