Majacraft Bobbin, Wood – Lace
Canadian shipping only. Majacraft's new wooden Lace Bobbin is made using laser-cut bamboo ply with 3d printed rings and fibreglass tubes. The new design minimizes the sound made by the tension string in the bobbin groove and allows you to see your yarn as you spin, through the cutout ends. All the new Majacraft bobbins will now work on the Aura wheel. Launched in late 2020.
In Majacraft's words:
"The Lace Bobbins have been created to spin very fine lace weight yarns. The special thin wall fibreglass cores make for very light bobbins and will allow you to have extra sensitive brake adjustment. This is essential for lace spinning. By combining this bobbin with our lace flyers you will be able to spin at very high speeds with ease. These bobbins have a “fat” core to reduce the “yarn-to-bobbin angle” and hence the tension on the yarn as you spin (to prevent unnecessary breakage of fine yarns)."

The Plying Kit is made up of a plying flyer and a wooden Jumbo bobbin. The plying flyer has an easy to thread delta orifice that is very simple to use. The wood Jumbo)bobbins have a large capacity and will hold up to two standard bobbins of singles yarn.
NOTE: LITTLE GEM WHEELS require the special Little Gem Mini Tension Knob with any of Majacraft's wide flyers, including the Aura, Plying or Wild flyers. That's because the standard tension knob sticks out too far and gets in the way of the wider flyer arms. It's listed here below the various flyers and flyer kits. We usually keep it in stock.

Majacraft Bobbin, Plastic – Standard

Majacraft's newly upgraded standard bobbin is made from molded plastic, :specially chosen to minimize the sound made by the tension string in the bobbin groove as well as to decrease the weight. The original tan-coloured plastic bobbins are no longer available. Launched in late 2020

"Cutouts in the end plates decrease the weight plus allow you to observe your yarn on the bobbin when spinning. Because ABS is a slightly softer plastic, we did not want them to wear out quicker so have managed to integrate some high quality and very durable polymer bearings inside the bobbin. They are tricky to see but we promise you they are there! We have also added drive pin holes so the plastic bobbins will now work on the Aura."

The Lace Kit includes two wood lace bobbins, a Lace Flyer with low-friction and hard-wearing ceramic inserts and a fast pulley. The lace bobbins have a "fat" core that reduces the tension on the yarn as you spin. The lace E-Flyer and E-Hook have hard-wearing ceramic inserts. The ceramic has a very low friction coefficient so the spun yarn glides effortlessly through the guides. The fast whorl will help you spin finer yarns with ease. All of the new Majacraft bobbins and flyers will work on all of their wheels, including the Aura.
