Shiny!! It’s awfully hard to resist this slim and shiny Tencel yarn, in rich jewel tones. John first bought some to try for thread-wrapping and plying with hand-spun singles, and it’s fantastic stuff. It’s of course also wonderful for weaving, as either warp or weft. Consider knitting on large needles for a very unusual lace project, or combining as a carry-along with a thicker yarn for two-stranded knitting. Also has potential for crochet and embroidery projects.

This is a two-ply smooth yarn, in weaving terms a 2/8 (or in the US 8/2). Sold in 227g (8 oz) spools. Each spool is 1680 yards (1536m) with 3360 yds/Lb (6740 meters/kg). Approximately 35wpi (wraps per inch), for knitting this is a very fine lace weight.

Tencel (known technically as Lyocell) is a manmade cellulose fibre that is sourced from wood pulp. It has wonderful drape, good strength and is similar to rayon. Tencel always has beautiful lustre and shine and takes dyes beautifully.
