Ashford Threading Hook – Wood Handle
$16.50
Price per hook. Canadian shipping only
A wood-handled threading hook, designed to fit the Ashford Joy, Elizabeth and E-spinner wheels. NOTE: hook length (without handle) is only 3cm (1.18″) so for other wheels it’s best to measure first in case it’s too short for your orifice. Lacquered finish.

Majacraft Bobbin, Wood – Lace
Canadian shipping only. Majacraft's new wooden Lace Bobbin is made using laser-cut bamboo ply with 3d printed rings and fibreglass tubes. The new design minimizes the sound made by the tension string in the bobbin groove and allows you to see your yarn as you spin, through the cutout ends. All the new Majacraft bobbins will now work on the Aura wheel. Launched in late 2020.
In Majacraft's words:
"The Lace Bobbins have been created to spin very fine lace weight yarns. The special thin wall fibreglass cores make for very light bobbins and will allow you to have extra sensitive brake adjustment. This is essential for lace spinning. By combining this bobbin with our lace flyers you will be able to spin at very high speeds with ease. These bobbins have a “fat” core to reduce the “yarn-to-bobbin angle” and hence the tension on the yarn as you spin (to prevent unnecessary breakage of fine yarns)."

Ashford Country Spinner 2 – Lacquered Finish
FREE GROUND SHIPPING within Canada! Canadian orders only. We have this item shipped directly from the Ashford Canada warehouse, generally within one or two business days. We also often have one assembled at our store for you to try.
The Country Spinner 2 was rejigged a few years back, and is a really awesome wheel with giant bobbins for spinning large amounts of bulky yarns and especially thick art yarns.
Ashford states that this wheel is for "big yarns".
- huge capacity bobbin
- double treadle
- large orifice (27mm = 1-1/16 inch)
- spin thick novelty yarns or large amounts of thick yarns
This listing is for the lacquered version. We highly recommend getting the finished wheel, as many spinners are so excited to get going that they never get around to putting on a finish coat themselves. Unfinished wheels can get grubby looking fairly quickly, particularly the treadles.
This is a specialist wheel designed to spin extra bulky yarn used in rug weaving and chunky knitting or for plying bulk quantities. The orifice is extra large and the bobbins have a huge capacity. The ball bearings and double treadle allows for an easy start and treadling. The slow drive ratio and sensitive leather flyer brake system are ideal for creating unique novelty yarns. Made from Silver Beech hardwood.
Ashford's redesign a few years back includes: new 3-speed bobbin with easy 3, 4 and 5:1 ratios. New polyurethane con-rod joints for smooth heel-and-toe treadling. Wider spaced treadle boards. Arched rails and factory assembled sides are easily assembled with bolts and barrel nuts. New maintenance-free polyurethane hinges for smooth and effortless treadling. Soft leather brake band and sensitive tension adjustment
INCLUDED: 1 country spinner bobbin, Threading hook, Learn to Spin booklet.
Bobbin capacity: 1kg (2.2 Lb).

Majacraft Bobbin, Plastic – Standard
Canadian shipping only. Majacraft's newly upgraded standard bobbin is made from molded plastic, :specially chosen to minimize the sound made by the tension string in the bobbin groove as well as to decrease the weight. The original tan-coloured plastic bobbins are no longer available. Launched in late 2020
In their words:
"Cutouts in the end plates decrease the weight plus allow you to observe your yarn on the bobbin when spinning. Because ABS is a slightly softer plastic, we did not want them to wear out quicker so have managed to integrate some high quality and very durable polymer bearings inside the bobbin. They are tricky to see but we promise you they are there! We have also added drive pin holes so the plastic bobbins will now work on the Aura."
