Handcards, Ashford – Small 72 PPSI
Canadian orders only. Price per set of two cards.
A smaller version of the popular hand cards, ideal for felters wanting to blend colours or different fibres, or for spinners that only occasionally card fibre or fleece. We would recommend the standard-sized cards to spinners that card fleece regularly. With 72 teeth (points) per square inch (PPSI) these are suitable for carding most grades of wool and other fibres, and especially so if you are blending fibres or colours that have already been made into roving or top.
Made of solid natural (unfinished) Silver Beech hardwood with a comfortable turned handle to fit the hand. The carding cloth is durable stainless steel wire teeth set at 72 points per square inch (PPSI), held by a red rubber backing. Carding head measures 7.5″ by 3.5″, about the same width as standard carders but not as deep. The paddles have a nice curve to them, which makes for more comfortable and efficient carding. Minor assembly required, basically laying a strip of white glue and screwing on the two handles. Easily finished with a coat of urethane or varnish, if desired.
