Wool 60/Flax 40 (Top)
Wool 60/Flax 40 (Top)
60% Wool / 40% Flax Very clean combed top in an interesting heathered blend of ash-grey, soft tan and cream. Staple length is around 5 to 6 inches. This blend is softer than you might imagine, with what is obviously a Finewool of some type and a good grade of flax. It seems well-prepared and should be easy to spin. We wonder if it might just work for lace weight yarn. Feels plenty soft enough for midrange to outerwear garments. This could be dyed with acid dyes for a streaky effect. Might it work for felting??

Yak, Brown 50/Cultivated Silk 50
Yak, Brown 50/Cultivated Silk 50
50% Yak / 50% Cultivated Silk Absolute luxury best describes this exotic blend from Ashland Bay. The combination of the two fibres somehow gives an almost metallic appearance, better than either alone! This would overdye like a dream, if you dare. The colour is sort of silvery brown but streaky at the same time. We think this wants to be spun lace weight but no doubt it would make superb bulkier yarns as well. Clean combed top, and easy to spin. PRODUCT of UNITED KINGDOM

Yak, Cream (Top)
Yak, Cream (Top)
100% Yak. Fine combed top, very clean. Staple length about 1 inch, in a creamy-white tone. Yak is a tricky fibre to spin by itself, because it's so short. It makes up for this by being super soft and warm. Consider blending with a fine wool, such as Merino. We can't seem to find information about the felting properties. Micron count approximately 21. White Yak is not a naturally-occuring colour, and is made from brown that has been depigmented. PRODUCT of CHINA
