Beginner Tapestry Weaving - FULL day March 30, 2019

Instructor: Kitt Fisher

FULL DAY, Saturday March 30, 10am to 5pm (with a 1-hour lunch break)

Room for 6 students maximum.

Tapestry weaving is a fun way to delve into the world of weaving, with simple tools. Using strong cotton thread as a warp, you will learn to create a tapestry picture with yarns and even roving and other fibre accents all on a simple rectangular weaving frame.

Students will require a small weaving frame (available for purchase for $57 or bring your own), and we recommend tapestry bobbins ($13.50 for 2). We will supply warp yarn. You will also need a selection of coloured or natural yarns and some Corriedale roving, all available at the shop or bring your own. This is a great way to use up small amounts of yarn you may have leftover from other projects.

In the morning, Kitt will show you how to warp your weaving frame and get started on the actual weaving process. The afternoon will give you time to learn various techniques using different materials, and how to remove your project from the loom when it is finished.

PLEASE NOTE: students will only have time to weave a partial project that you can later work on and finish at home.

NOTE: no refund for cancellations within two weeks of the workshop.
